Very expected game when 9th rankedPirates (3-7) were defeated on the road by first ranked Brisbane Spartans (9-1) 67-62 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. SD Spartans had a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Jessica McDowell-White (168-2000, college: USF) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists. New Zealand forward Kalani Purcell (188-1995, college: BYU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Brisbane Spartans players scored in double figures. American swingman Beyonce Bea (185, college: WSU) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Stephanie Bairstow (188-1994, college: Utah St.) added 19 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. SD Spartans maintains first position with 9-1 record. Loser Pirates keeps the ninth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Ipswich F.. SD Spartans will meet at home Gold Coast R. (#12) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. SW Metro P. will play against SC Phoenix in Cotton Tree and hope to secure a win.
