There was a minor upset in Wendouree where their close opponentMiners (10-7) were crushed by eighth ranked Sabres (9-7) 118-97 on Saturday. Sandringham S. made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was naturalized South Sudanese forward Malith Machar (198-1999, college: Midland CC) who scored 37 points (!!!). Guard Ben Ayre (188-1995, college: Newman) chipped in 25 points and 7 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Naturalized Sudanese power forward Majok Majok (210-1992, college: Ball St.) produced 16 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Dayne Prim (198-2001, college: TAMUCC) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sabres have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Sandringham S. moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Sutherland. Loser Miners dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Casey.
