There was a minor upset in Alexandria where 9th rankedComets (7-9) were crushed by twelfth ranked Sharks (6-10) 115-62 on Sunday. Sutherland made 25-of-27 free shots (92.6 percent) during the game. Sutherland outrebounded Sydney C. 51-37 including a 40-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Madeleine Norris (188-1998) who had a double-double by scoring 50 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 5 assists. Naturalized Greek point guard Vanessa Panousis (170-1995, college: Virginia Tech) chipped in 23 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Swingman Abigail Curtin (185-1997, college: Denver) produced 22 points and 6 rebounds and forward Alexandra Kayrouz (178-2004) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Comets' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Sutherland maintains twelfth position with 6-10 record. Loser Comets keeps the ninth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Maitland.
