Important game to mention about took place in Townsville. Seventh rankedFlames (6-6) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 3rd placed Meteorettes (9-4) 70-67 on Friday evening. Strangely Mackay outrebounded Townsville F. 62-37 including a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for New Zealand guard Tayla Dalton (175-2001, college: Gonzaga) who led her team to a victory with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Chailee Ward (180-2003) contributed with 16 points for the winners. American forward Unique Thompson (190-1999, college: Auburn) answered with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 19 rebounds (on 14-of-15 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Amari Robinson (183-2000, college: Clemson) added 8 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Mackay. Meteorettes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Townsville F. moved-up to fifth place, which they share with SC Phoenix. Mackay at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost.
