Regular Season Round 15: NW Tasmania - Mt.Gambier 74-107

Very predictable result when second rankedPioneers (15-6) rolled over 19th ranked NW Tasmania Thunder (5-16) in Ulverstone 107-74 on Saturday. Mt.Gambier dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to NW Tasmania Thunder 's 36 and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Mt.Gambier forced 20 NW Tasmania turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for forward Akech Aliir (204-2000) who led the winners and scored 26 points. American guard Joe Palmer (193-2001, college: Colorado St., agency: Warren Sports International) accounted for 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Five Pioneers players scored in double figures. The former international guard Kye Savage (186-2005) came up with 18 points and 6 rebounds and guard Lachlan Barker (188-1996) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for NW Tasmania in the defeat. NW Tasmania Thunder's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Pioneers have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Mt.Gambier maintains second place with 15-6 record having just sixteen point less than leader BA CoE. NW Tasmania lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the nineteenth position with 16 games lost.
