There was no surprise when 8th rankedHawks (8-8) lost to top-ranked Cougars (17-0) in Floreat 81-93 on Thursday. Cockburn outrebounded Perry Lakes H. 45-32 including a 25-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Cockburn looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by Danish swingman Sarah Mortensen (185-1997, college: Villanova) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 32 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and New Zealand-Israeli forward Danielle Raber (183-1996) supported her with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Cougars players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 4 assists by guard Amy Jacobs (183-2001, college: La Salle) did not help to save the game for Perry Lakes H. . Power forward Megan McKay (194-1997, college: SMC) added 15 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cougars have an impressive 17-game winning streak. Cockburn maintains first position with 17-0 record. Loser Hawks keeps the eighth place with eight games lost.
