Very expected game in Mount Waverley where 12th rankedFalcons (9-11) were rolled over by third ranked Sabres (13-7) 128-102 on Friday. Sandringham S. dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Falcons 's 48. Sandringham S. outrebounded Waverley F. 57-37 including a 48-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sandringham S. looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Ben Ayre (188-1995, college: Newman) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!) and 5 assists and the former international forward Dane Pineau (206-1994, college: SMC) who added 15 points and 15 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Khalil Shabazz (183-1998, college: USF) responded with 36 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals (made all of his seven free throws) and guard Malik Meunier (185-1999) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Sabres have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Sandringham S. maintains third position with 13-7 record having just thirteen point less than leader BA CoE. Waverley F. lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Nunawading S. and Frankston B.. Sandringham S. will meet at home Bendigo (#14) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Waverley F. will play against Melbourne T. and hope to secure a win.
