Very expected game in Mt Gambier where 14th rankedBraves (8-13) were rolled over by second ranked Pioneers (15-6) 89-51 on Friday. Mt.Gambier dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Braves 's 22. Mt.Gambier forced 22 Bendigo turnovers and outrebounded them 56-25 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mt.Gambier looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Bendigo 's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mt.Gambier made 9 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Joe Palmer (193-2001, college: Colorado St., agency: Warren Sports International) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Akech Aliir (204-2000) who added 17 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Pioneers players scored in double figures. At the losing side Lual Diing (205-1998) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Isaac Murphy (190-2002, college: UW-Fox Valley) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pioneers have an impressive five-game winning streak. Mt.Gambier maintains second position with 15-6 record having just sixteen point less than leader BA CoE. Bendigo lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth place with 13 games lost.
