We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th rankedDiamond Valley Eagles (13-7) were outscored by seventh ranked Boomers (12-8) in Melbourne 102-55 on Friday. Melbourne dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Diamond Valley Eagles 's 22. Melbourne outrebounded Diamond VE 45-25 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Melbourne looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Diamond VE 's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Melbourne made 9 blocks. The winners were led by point guard Indiah Bowyer (171-2003) who scored that evening 16 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 blocks and forward Hannah Giddey (188, college: S.Nazarene) supported her with 18 points and 5 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Boomers players scored in double figures. Even 14 points and 5 rebounds by Tayha Watkins did not help to save the game for Diamond VE . Lucy Oakford added 9 points for lost side. Loser Diamond Valley Eagles keeps the sixth place with seven games lost.
