There was a minor upset in Kalamunda where 9th rankedLightning (6-12) was defeated by twelfth ranked Suns (3-15) 85-71 on Thursday. The best player for the winners was American forward Karly Murphy (185-1998, college: Colorado St.) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. Her fellow American import forward Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant (187-2001, college: Angelo St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward Teige Morrell (191-1995, college: Nevada) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Samantha Lubcke (188-1996, college: Utah Valley) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Lakeside L. players scored in double figures. Lightning's coach rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kalamunda ES moved-up to ninth place, which they share with C.Districts L. and Goldfields G. Loser Lightning dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost.
