Falcons used a home court advantage and outleveled the opponent from Melbourne 75-55 on Thursday night. Waverley F. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Madelynn Utti (181-1998, college: LBSU) who scored 8 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Sophia Locandro (190-2001, college: UC Irvine) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Falcons players scored in double figures. Falcons' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Hannah Giddey (188, college: S.Nazarene) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Isabella Brancatisano (178-1995) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively. Falcons will meet Nunawading S. (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Boomers will play against Ballarat M. (#8) and look forward to get finally their first victory.
