The most exciting game of round 3 in the Big V took place in McKinnon. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat ofCougars (1-2) to Redbacks (3-0) 103-100 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. RMIT looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by McKinnon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Stephen Coffey who led his team to a victory with 12 points, 10 rebounds, 17 assists and 4 steals. American forward Devon Vanderheydt (198, college: Lewis) contributed with 31 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Troyce Manassa (193-1993, college: SSU) answered with 20 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and guard Mitchell Barry (190) added 20 points and 9 assists in the effort for McKinnon. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cougars' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
