No shocking result in a game in East Burwood where fourth rankedDiamond Valley Eagles (6-2) smashed 11th ranked Spectres (4-5) 98-76 on Sunday. Diamond VE made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Diamond VE outrebounded Nunawading S. 46-26 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Diamond VE looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for the former international guard Abbey Ellis (168-2001, college: Purdue) who led her team to a victory scoring 26 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. The former international swingman Alexandra Sharp (185-1997, college: Wake Forest) helped adding 13 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Diamond Valley Eagles players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Kylee Blacksten (190-2002, college: WVU) responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Rachel Antoniadou (175-1996, college: FSU) scored 20 points and 6 assists. Spectres' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Diamond VE moved-up to second place, which they share with Eltham W. Nunawading S. lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. Diamond VE will meet at home Ringwood (#18) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Nunawading S. will play against Eltham W. (#3) and hope to secure a win.
