Everything went according to plan when third rankedMeteorettes (4-1) outplayed 10th ranked Capitals (2-4) in Mackay 111-64 on Saturday. Mackay forced 23 Brisbane C. turnovers. Strangely Brisbane C. outrebounded Mackay 48-32 including a 23-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mackay looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Brisbane C. 's players. The winners were led by forward Monique Bobongie (178-2006) who scored that evening 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and American center River Baldwin (196-2001, college: NC State) supported her with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Five Meteorettes players scored in double figures. Even 29 points and 5 rebounds by American forward Alyssa Brown (185, college: UNLV) did not help to save the game for Brisbane C. . Her fellow American import center Tyla Stolberg (188, college: Newberry) added 11 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Meteorettes have a solid three-game winning streak. Mackay maintains third position with 4-1 record having eleven points less than leader Sandringham S. Brisbane C. lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with four games lost.
