A very close game took place in Eltham betweenWildcats and Diamond Valley Eagles . Second ranked Wildcats (11-2) got a very close home victory over 3rd placed Diamond Valley Eagles (9-4). Wildcats managed to escape with a 1-point win 82-81 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Diamond Valley Eagles. Eltham W. forced 21 Diamond VE turnovers and had a 23-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Eltham W. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for New Zealand center Rebecca Pizzey (190-1999) who led the winners and scored 24 points, 26 rebounds and 5 blocks. Guard Sarah Elsworthy (171-1998) accounted for 15 points, 5 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Wildcats' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international swingman Alexandra Sharp (185-1997, college: Wake Forest) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds and the former international guard Abbey Ellis (168-2001, college: Purdue) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Diamond VE in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Wildcats . Eltham W. maintains second place with 11-2 record having just one victory less than leader Sandringham S. Diamond VE at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with BA CoE.
