Southside - Townsville 99-82

Southside Flyers claimed WNBL title. They overcame Townsville Fire in the championship game tonight. Southside Flyers made 29-of-31 free shots (93.5 percent) during the game. The former international point guard Leilani Mitchell (165-85, college: Utah) fired 31 points and 5 assists (made all of her eight free throws) for the winners. Guard Rebecca Cole (178-92) chipped in 22 points and 5 steals. International guard Lauren Nicholson (183-93, college: St.Mary's, CA) produced 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Nadeen Payne (188-93, agency: LBM Management) added 14 points and 6 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) respectively for lost side. Four Townsville Fire players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
