Big V Round 11 (Regular Season): Keysborough defeats RMIT in the game between Top 4 teams

An interesting game for Cougars (12-2) which played road game in against 3rd placed Redbacks (9-5). First ranked Cougars had an easy win 114-88. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Redbacks. Keysborough made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Keysborough made 7 blocks. American point guard Anthony Williams (178-1995, college: Clark Atlanta) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 9 assists. Forward Simon Grant (195-1991) contributed with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. American guard Darnell Hoskins Jr (180, college: SVSU, agency: 6th Man Basketball Agency) answered with 18 points for RMIT. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Keysborough maintains first place with 12-2 record. RMIT at the other side dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Keysborough are looking forward to face Bellarine (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. RMIT will play against Sunbury (#9) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
The game in Melbourne supposed to be also worth to mention about. Second ranked Hume City Broncos (11-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Melbourne Uni (7-7). Hume City Broncos smashed Melbourne Uni 125-92. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Melbourne Uni. It was a great evening for New Zealand Zach Mckenzie (-2002) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. Kavione Green helped adding 24 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Joel Rimes (196) responded with 19 points and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hume City maintains second place with 11-2 record behind leader Keysborough. Melbourne Uni at the other side dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Hume City will play against Wyndham (#11) in Werribee in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Melbourne Uni's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Melbourne Camberwell.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 11: Sunbury was beaten by Shepparton on the road 85-73. Wyndham was destroyed by McKinnon on its own court 86-114. Wyndham was outscored by Shepparton in a road game 103-77. Bellarine managed to beat Blackburn at home 108-90.
The most impressive performance of 11th round was 37 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds by Kerry Richardson of Bellarine.



Camberwell - Pakenham 97-79

Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Warriors (8-6) and Camberwell (4-9), which took place in Melbourne. Higher ranked Warriors lost to eleventh ranked Camberwell in a road game 79-97 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Warriors. Camberwell made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Camberwell outrebounded Pakenham 54-39 including a 39-27 advantage in defensive rebounds.
