Australia crowned champions in Guam - Jul 15, 2017

Australia - New Zealand 81-60
Australia are Oceania U17 champions. They edged New Zealand in the title game in Guam today. Isabelle Bourne (186-C-00) came up with 20 points and 7 rebounds to lead the champions. New Zealand eked out a 23:22 lead after the first period. Australia however turned things around in the second term. The Sapphires ensured a 39:32 halftime lead. They followed with a 42:28 run in the second half to seal the win. Chelsea D'Angelo (180-F-00) accounted for 18 points and 11 rebounds in the victory. Charlisse Leger-Walker (167-G-01) responded with 21 points for New Zealand.
3-4 Place
Guam - Samoa 58-88
Samoa outgunned Guam to claim the Bronze medals. Frances Ropati (00) provided 32 points, 17 rebounds and 9 steals to lead the winners. Samoa accumulated a 52:34 halftime lead. They held the hosts to just 24 points in the second half and raced to the victory. Latorya Ropati (00) provided 16 points and 9 boards in the win. Mia San-Nicolas (01) responded with 18 points and 8 boards for Guam.


New Zealand and Australia to clash for title in Guam - Jul 14, 2017

New Zealand - Samoa 81-36
New Zealand outgunned Samoa to make through into the Final. Charlotte Whittaker (187-F-00) delivered 22 points and 11 rebounds in the victory. Samoa led by two points 13:11 after ten minutes. But New Zealand responded with a 51:10 run in the next two periods to ensure a comfortable lead. Lauryn Hippolite (174-G-00) connected for 17 points in the win. Frances Ropati (00) responded with 11 points and 12 rebounds for Samoa.

Australia - Guam 154-12
Australia knocked down Guam to advance into the title game. The Sapphires recorded a massive 80:2 halftime advantage and coasted to the victory in the second half. Emma Clarke (183-G/F-99) stepped up with 28 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Isabelle Bourne (186-C-00) contributed 25 points and 15 rebounds for Australia. Haley Senne (00) responded with 4 points for Guam.

Samoa - Australia 27-111
Australia cruised past Samoa to earn the third victory in a row. Miela Goodchild (175-G/F-00) tallied 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the Sapphires. Australia ensured a 56:16 halftime lead. They held Samoa to just 11 points in the second half and raced to the win. Emma Clarke (183-G/F-99) and Darcy Rees (192-C-00) had 19 points each for Australia. Taylor Muaulu (01) responded with 11 points for Samoa.

Marshall Islands - Tahiti 33-101
Tahiti celebrated the opening victory in Guam. They beat Marshall Islands for 1-2 record. Hereiti Salem (02) stepped up with 18 points for the winners. Tahiti recorded a 48:13 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the win. Leilanie Teraimateata (01) had 16 points for the winning side. Eskella Joseph (157-G-00) responded with 6 points for Marshall Islands.

Group B
New Caledonia - Guam 71-79
Guam beat New Caledonia to ensure the semifinal birth. Mia San-Nicolas (01) came up with 29 points and 22 rebounds for the hosts. Guam claimed a 40:33 halftime advantage. New Caledonia pulled within a single point at the final intermission. But Guam sank 24 points in the fourth term to get away with the victory. Haley Senne (00) netted 18 points for Guam. Cassandree Canaldo (170-SF-00) answered with 13 points for New Caledonia.

New Zealand - Palau 135-8
New Zealand coasted past Palau to enter the semifinal stage unbeaten. Lawrin Tipene (180-F-00) provided 26 points, 8 rebounds and 6 steals in the win. New Zealand used a massive 62:0 run at the start of the game and never looked back en route to the victory. Tsubasa Nisbet (181-F-00) chipped in 21 points in the win. Cheyenne Ngiralmau (02) responded with 3 points for Palau.

Australia - Marshall Islands 166-3
Australia did not notice Marshall Islands en route to the second victory in Guam. Madeline Puli (186-C-00) posted 27 points to lead the winners. Australia grabbed a 85:0 halftime lead and never looked back on the way to the victory. Miela Goodchild (175-G/F-00) had 25 points in the win. Tamara Andrike (157-G-01) replied with 3 points for Marshall Islands.

Tahiti - Samoa 41-90
Samoa recorded the second victory at the tournament. They outgunned Tahiti to stay perfect in Group A. Frances Ropati (00) and Latorya Ropati (00) came up with 21 points each to lead the winners. Samoa grabbed a 44:15 halftime lead. They maintained the advantage throughout the second half and coasted to the win. Sommer Motufoua (00) had 18 points in the victory. Mahinetea Tavanae (03) responded with 15 points for Tahiti.

Group B
Palau - Guam 34-96
Guam topped Palau to improve at 1-1 record in Group B. Mia San-Nicolas (01) recorded 24 points and 18 rebounds in the win. Guam established a 63:3 halftime advantage. Guam kept their opponents at bay throughout the second half and raced to the win. Elysia Perez (00) had 18 points in the victory. Kristen Sugiyama (02) responded with 16 points and 19 rebounds for Palau.

New Zealand - New Caledonia 110-31
New Zealand outgunned New Caledonia for the second win in a row in Group B. Charlotte Whittaker (187-F-00) and Lauryn Hippolite (174-G-00) produced 16 points each for the winning side. New Zealand accumulated a 65:19 halftime lead. They limited New Caledonia to just 12 points in the second half and rallied to the victory. Tsubasa Nisbet (181-F-00) had 15 points in the win. Cassandree Canaldo (170-SF-00) responded with 7 points for New Caledonia.

Australia secured the winning start to their Oceania Championship campaign. They crushed Tahiti in the opener. Nine players scored in double digits for the Sapphires. Guam - New Zealand 34-139
New Zealand coasted past Guam at the start of the Oceania Championship. Keeley Tini (183-F/C-00), Lawrin Tipene (180-F-00) and Amiee Book (180-G-00) scored 20 points each for the Kiwis. New Zealand accounted for a 65:12 halftime advantage. New Zealand fired 47 points in the fourth term to ice the win. Charlisse Leger-Walker (167-G-01) drained 14 points in the victory. New Caledonia - Palau 118-29
New Caledonia stunned Palau in Group B. Eight players scored in double digits for the winners. Fiona Peu (176-F-00) provided 21 points in the victory. New Caledonia recorded a 51:19 halftime lead.
