Australia earn Gold medals in Paita - Aug 24, 2019

Australia - New Zealand 88-41
Australia celebrated Gold medals in New Caledonia. They fired past their archrivals New Zealand in the Final today. Australia posted a 46:24 halftime lead. Australia followed with a massive 42:17 second half run to ice the win. Jade Melbourne (176-F/G-02) provided 21 points and 7 assists, while Gemma Potter (182-F/C-02) added 15 points for the champions. Emilee Tahata (180-SF-02) replied with 8 points for New Zealand.
3-4 Place
Tahiti - Samoa 62-56
Tahiti toppled Samoa to step onto the pedestal in New Caledonia. Hereiti Salem scored 22 points as Tahiti claim the Bronze medals. Tahiti and Samoa tied things up at 25 at the interval. However Tahiti went on a 24:15 run in the third period to clear off for good. Mahinetea Tavanae (176-G-03) netted 15 points for the winners. Charlize Lealiiee (165-G-03) replied with 14 points for Samoa.

New Zealand and Australia to clash for title in Paita - Aug 23, 2019

New Zealand - Samoa 84-26
New Zealand knocked down Samoa to reach the championship game in New Caledonia. New Zealand registered a 46:12 halftime lead. They held Samoa to only 14 points in the second half to race to the victory. Hannah Matehaere (178-SF-02), Arielle Williams (177-SG-02) and Ashlee Strawbridge (178-SF-02) notched 12 points apiece for the Kiwis. J'Adore Limu (168-SF-03) netted 9 points for Samoa.

Australia - Tahiti 139-16
Nine players scored in double digits as Australia demolished Tahiti in the semifinal game. Olivia Pollerd (187-C-02) and Paige Price (184-F-03) came up with 20 points apiece for the winning side. Australia unloaded 76 points in the first half to clear off for good. Mahinetea Tavanae (176-G-03) produced 4 points for Tahiti.
5-6 Place
New Caledonia - Guam 72-75
Guam held off New Caledonia to earn the fifth position at the championship. New Caledonia eked out a 32:31 halftime lead. Guam went on a 24:19 run in the third term to take a 4-point lead. New Caledonia dropped 21 points in the fourth period but could not escape the loss. Alana Salas (157-PG-02) stepped up with 37 points for Guam. Celia Puleoto (03) netted 24 points and collected 10 rebounds in the loss.

Samoa and Tahiti advance into semifinal stage - Aug 22, 2019

Quarterfinals
Samoa - New Caledonia 60-41
Samoa cruised past New Caledonia to reach the semifinal stage. Samoa claimed a 31:21 halftime lead. They held New Caledonia to just 20 points in the second half and rallied to the win. Nive Lale (173-SF-04) tossed in 14 points, while Kalista Niu (173-G-02) added 12 points for Samoa. Maimiti Tetuanui (06) replied with 8 points for New Caledonia.

Guam - Tahiti 32-70
Tahiti secured the semifinal berth. They stormed past Guam in the quarterfinal clash. Tahiti claimed a 32:16 halftime lead. They sank 38 points in the second half to ease to the victory. Hereiti Salem (163-PG-02) connected for 18 points, while Tearere Richmond (184-C-04) had 11 points for Tahiti. Kirsten Silva (157-PG-03) replied with 9 points for Guam.
7-8 Place
Papua New Guinea - Cook Islands 59-58
Papua New Guinea finished in the seventh position at the tournament. They nipped Cook Islands to earn the 7th position. Papua New Guinea eked out a 30:27 halftime lead. Cook Islands tied things up at 43 heading into the fourth term. But Papua New Guinea managed to run away with a narrow win at the end. Magdalene Javapro (G-03) was unstoppable with 42 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Hoana-Rose Solomon (03) and Tikara Jallow (04) replied with 14 points each for Cook Islands.

Australia breezed past New Zealand to remain undefeated at the championship. Australia built a 43:30 halftime lead. They followed with a 25:9 run in the fourth term to seal the victory. Gemma Potter (182-F/C-02) and Millie Prior produced 13 points each for the winners. Emilee Tahata (180-SF-02) and Arielle Williams (177-SG-02) had 12 points apiece for New Zealand.

Tahiti - Cook Islands 79-33
Tahiti clinched the top position in Group B. They stormed past Cook Islands for the third straight win. Tahiti recorded a 37:14 halftime lead. They sank 42 points in the second half to ease to the win. Mahinetea Tavanae (176-G-03) produced 17 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for Tahiti. Hoana-Rose Solomon (03) replied with 11 points and 14 rebounds for Cook Islands.

Group B
New Caledonia - Papua New Guinea 56-51
New Caledonia topped Papua New Guinea to take 2-1 record in Group B. New Caledonia recorded a 16:11 lead after ten minutes. The hosts used a 17:10 run in the fourth stanza to march to the win. Leilani Tartas (166-SF-02) produced 14 points and 18 rebounds for New Caledonia. Magdalene Javapro (G-03) responded with 16 points for Papua New Guinea.

Guam - Samoa 51-81
Samoa outgunned Guam to open win count in New Caledonia. Samoa registered a 44:30 halftime lead. They held Guam to 21 points in the second half and breezed to the victory. Kalista Niu (173-G-02) provided 15 points and 18 rebounds for Samoa. Alana Salas (157-PG-02) tossed in 17 points for Guam.

New Zealand recorded the second straight win at the championship. They stormed past Guam to improve at 2-0 record. Caitlin O'Connell (178-SG-02) paced the Kiwis.

Papua New Guinea - Cook Islands 52-48
Papua New Guinea held off Cook Islands to gain the first win at the tournament. Cook Islands recorded a 27:22 halftime lead. But the hosts held their opponents to just 21 points in the second half and raced to the win. Magdalene Javapro (G-03) and Alica Kaiawa had 14 points each for the winners. Hoana-Rose Solomon (03) replied with 14 points for Cook Islands.

New Caledonia - Tahiti 54-64
Tahiti beat New Caledonia for the second straight win in Paita. Tahiti eked out a 28:21 halftime lead. They dropped 23 points in the fourth period to rally to the victory. Tearere Richmond (184-C-04) provided 25 points and 20 rebounds for Tahiti. Celia Puleoto (03) had 16 points and 9 rebounds for New Caledonia.
