Australia are Oceania U17 champions. They edged New Zealand in the title game in Guam today. Isabelle Bourne (186-C-00) came up with 20 points and 7 rebounds to lead the champions. New Zealand eked out a 23:22 lead after the first period. Australia however turned things around in the second term. The Sapphires ensured a 39:32 halftime lead. They followed with a 42:28 run in the second half to seal the win. Chelsea D'Angelo (180-F-00) accounted for 18 points and 11 rebounds in the victory. Charlisse Leger-Walker (167-G-01) responded with 21 points for New Zealand.
3-4 Place
Guam - Samoa 58-88
Samoa outgunned Guam to claim the Bronze medals. Frances Ropati (00) provided 32 points, 17 rebounds and 9 steals to lead the winners. Samoa accumulated a 52:34 halftime lead. They held the hosts to just 24 points in the second half and raced to the victory. Latorya Ropati (00) provided 16 points and 9 boards in the win. Mia San-Nicolas (01) responded with 18 points and 8 boards for Guam.
