Tochigi Brex Utsunomiya (B1 League) re-signed 32-year-old New Zealander-Tongan ex-international 203cm power forward Isaac Fotu (college: Hawaii) for the 2026-27 season. He has played there for the last five seasons and helped them win the regular season. Fotu played 3 games in the East Asia Super League, where he recorded very impressive stats: 28.0ppg, 9.7rpg, and 4.3apg last season.
He also represented New Zealand at the FIBA World Cup in Philippines-Japan-Indonesia three years ago. His team won Silver and he averaged over 8 points per game.
Fotu is a very experienced player, having played professionally in Australia, Germany (ratiopharm Ulm), Italy (Umana Venezia and Treviso), and Spain (Zaragoza).
Among many awards, he won the Basketball League Asia championship title in 2025. Fotu was voted to the Japanese B League All-Star Game in 2024.
He graduated from the University of Hawaii in 2015, and this will be his twelfth season in pro basketball.
