The most important game in the last round took place in Baulkham Hills between third ranked Hawks (3-3) and eleventh ranked Hills Hornets (2-4) on Sunday night. Hawks were defeated by Hills Hornets in a tough game on the road 92-97. Hills Hornets outrebounded Hawks 53-38 including 18 on the offensive glass. 29 personal fouls committed by Hawks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Liam Moss who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized British forward Paul Brotherson (198-1989, college: MSU Denver) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Hills Hornets' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Kiwi Gardner (170-1993, college: Providence) replied with 41 points (!!!) and 7 assists for Hawks. Hills Hornets maintains eleventh position in League with 2-4 record. Hawks at the other side dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. Hills Hornets are looking forward to face higher ranked Canberra Gunners (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Hawks will play against Mustangs and are hoping to win this game.
Tigers' fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after one consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Eltham Wildcats (0-3) 75-68. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Mason Gaze (198, college: Lindenwood) who helped to win the game recording 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Felix Von Hofe who added 14 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American power forward Joshua Sykes (203, college: Fresno City) with 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Eltham Wildcats' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Tigers (1-1) left bottom position moving up to eleventh place in League. Eltham Wildcats at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Tigers will play against Sabres (#13) in Cheltenham in the next round. Eltham Wildcats will have a break next round.

The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Ballarat Miners (1-2) 89-84 on Sunday. The winners were led by Tohiraukura Smith-milner who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists by Preston Bungei did not help to save the game for Ballarat Miners. Sabres left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place in League. Sabres will meet at home higher ranked Tigers (#11) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ballarat Miners will play against Bendigo Braves (#17) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In League Canberra G. were beaten by Newcastle H. on the road 68-65. Winless Bendigo B. lost to undefeated Geelong S. on its own court 73-90.

Hills H. - Illawarra H. 2 97-92

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Hunters (2-1) edged 8th ranked Canberra Gunners (3-2) in Broadmeadow 68-65 on Sunday. Hunters dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Canberra Gunners' 28. The winners were led by forward Myles Cherry (203-1998, college: Lafayette) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Matur Maluach (196, college: UNB) supported him with 20 points. Even a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds by center Glenn Morison (208, college: St.Edward's) did not help to save the game for Canberra Gunners. William Mayfield added 15 points. Four Canberra Gunners players scored in double figures. Canberra Gunners' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Hunters moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Canberra Gunners dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Hunters will meet at home Crusaders (#8) in the next round. Canberra Gunners will play against Hills Hornets (#11) and hope to secure a win.

Very expected game when bottom-ranked Bendigo Braves (0-3) lost at home to top-ranked Geelong Supercats (3-0) 90-73 on Sunday. Geelong Supercats outrebounded Bendigo Braves 49-35 including a 38-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by guard Gabriel Hadley (190-1998) who scored that evening 25 points and 7 rebounds and American Isaac Turner (191-1992, college: St.Vincent) supported him with 23 points. Four Geelong Supercats players scored in double figures. Geelong Supercats' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 15 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists by American swingman Malcolm Bernard (198-1994, college: Xavier) did not help to save the game for Bendigo Braves. Luke Rosendale added 24 points and 5 steals. Geelong Supercats maintains first position in League with 3-0 record. Loser Bendigo Braves still closes the standings with three games lost. Geelong Supercats will meet at home Thunder (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Bendigo Braves will play against Ballarat Miners and hope to get finally their first victory.
