The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Hume City Broncos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Hume City Broncos smashed 8th ranked Jets in Tullamarine 92-68. Hume City forced 21 Sunbury turnovers and outrebounded them 54-37 including a 38-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hume City looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Kavione Green (195, college: Bloomfield) stepped up and scored 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and New Zealand Zach Mckenzie (-2002) chipped in 9 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was Byron Gladden with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hume City Broncos (10-1) have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Sunbury at the other side keeps the eighth place with six games lost. Sunbury will play next round against Wyndham trying to get back on the winning streak. Hume City will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked McKinnon at home.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Cougars (10-2) in Keysborough. Hosts were edged by Hume City Broncos (10-1) 105-103. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Cougars. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Ricardo Time (188, college: Idaho Coll.) nailed 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and Kavione Green accounted for 24 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Benjamin Okhotin (198-1999, college: PLNU, agency: Warren Sports International) came up with 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds for Keysborough in the defeat. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Hume City Broncos. They keep a position of league leader. Keysborough at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. Hume City will play against McKinnon (#4) at home in the next round. Keysborough will play against Shepparton and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Pakenham maintains fifth place with 6-5 record. Loser Cougars dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Pakenham will meet at home Bellarine (#9) in the next round. McKinnon will play against the league's leader Hume City (#1) in Tullamarine and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 9: Shepparton won against Blackburn on the opponent's court 103-91. Melbourne Uni was outscored by RMIT in a home game 85-105. Keysborough managed to beat Wyndham on the road 115-99. Camberwell defeated Bellarine on its own court 96-92. Melbourne Uni beat Blackburn in a road game 90-82.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 15 points and 20 rebounds by Oliver Stanley of Melbourne Uni.



McKinnon - Pakenham 87-100

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Cougars (7-4) against fifth ranked Warriors (6-5) on Saturday night. Host Cougars were defeated by Warriors in McKinnon 100-87. Pakenham looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Cody Fredrickson (188-2000, college: Ottawa, KS) who scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Ned Carr chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. Five Warriors players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Lithuanian swingman Remo Simankevicius (198-1996, college: SNHU) who recorded 28 points and 5 rebounds and forward Shaquille Maharaj (196-1997, college: Camosun) added 16 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Shepparton shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 58.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Ryan Batte (198-1999, college: Thomas More) who scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Bryce Brown (203, college: Lindsey Wilson) chipped in 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Gators' coach Josh Waight used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Elijah Davy who recorded 23 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Manel Ayol (201, college: Hawaii) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Shepparton moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Melbourne Uni. Blackburn lost their eighth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Shepparton will meet league's second-placed Keysborough on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Blackburn will play against Pakenham (#5) and hope to win that game.

At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jamir Moultrie (185-1997, college: Canisius) who recorded 27 points and forward Joel Rimes (196) added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. RMIT moved-up to third place. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Cougars. Despite that victory Keysborough went down to second position due to points difference.
