The Regular Season in State League is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 5 rounds. The round was exceptionally exciting as five games ended with a tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Fourth-ranked Hume City Broncos (10-9) made lots of trouble for first ranked Jets (19-1) in Tullamarine on Saturday. The visitors from Sunbury managed to secure only one-point victory 84-83. However their fans expected easier game. Jets looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Ishmael Sanders (188, college: C-N) who scored 26 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import forward Trevon Clayton (198, college: FPU) chipped in 13 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Anthony Dell Orso produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Jets maintains first place in League with 19-1 record. Hume City Broncos at the other side keep the fourth position with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Hunters (11-6) against seventh ranked Bulls (9-10) on Saturday night. Visiting Hunters were crushed by Bulls in Inner West 98-61. Lithuanian power forward Jonas Slapikas (201-1997) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Alex Higgins-Titsha contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized British forward Ryan Beisty (200-1995, college: Regis Univ.) answered with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for Hunters. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bulls maintains seventh place in League with 9-10 record. Hunters at the other side dropped to the third position with six games lost. Bulls will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hunters will play on the road against the league's second-placed Norths Soul Sports Bears and will have a slim chance for a victory.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Mustangs (11-7) against sixth ranked Sutherland Sharks (9-9) on Saturday night. Host Mustangs were defeated by Sutherland Sharks in Maitland 91-77. Geoffrey Gerlach stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Matthew Gray responded with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sutherland Sharks maintains sixth place in League with 9-9 record. Loser Mustangs dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Brisbane C. were defeated by NGC Seahawks on the opponent's court 92-76. Hobart C. smashed Waverley F. in a home game 93-66. Mt Gambier won against Bendigo B. on the road 91-86. Sandringham S. managed to outperform Keilor T. on its own court 89-80. Kilsyth C. managed to beat Casey C. in a road game 80-70. Knox R. defeated Melbourne T. at home 77-75. Ballarat M. was beaten by Nunawading S. on the opponent's court 89-78. Diamond V.E. won against Eltham W. in a home game 73-69. Waverley F. unfortunately lost to NW Tasmania on the road 63-69. Ringwood H. recorded a loss to Frankston B. on its own court 98-100. Perry Lakes H. was defeated by Perth R. in Northbridge 76-73. Warwick S. was smashed by Cockburn C. at home 89-108. Rockingham F. won against Willetton T. on the opponent's court 88-76. Cockburn C. outscored SW Slammers in a home game 124-105. Goldfields G. managed to beat Mandurah M. on the road 93-88. Lakeside L. was defeated by Warwick S. on its own court 84-91. East Perth E. was smashed by Perry Lakes H. in Floreat 76-48. Geraldton B. destroyed Joondalup W. at home 83-59.

Blackburn V. - McKinnon C. 73-108

There was no surprise in Melbourne where 6th ranked Vikings (6-14) were crushed by third ranked Cougars (12-6) 108-73 on Saturday. Cougars looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American guard Sharif Black (185-1996, college: Bemidji St., agency: Hamriding Sports Management) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners and guard Mitchell Barry (190, college: HPU) chipped in 11 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward DMonte Evans (190, college: Bluefield) responded with 23 points and 4 assists and Edward Bourke scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Five Cougars and four Vikings players scored in double figures. There was a small surprise in Melbourne where seventh ranked Steelers (6-13) defeated 5th ranked Camberwell (9-11) 95-85 on Saturday. Steelers looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American guard Troyce Manassa (193-1993, college: SSU, agency: Hamriding Sports Management) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and naturalized British guard Daryl Corletto (193-1981) chipped in 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Steelers players scored in double figures. American Sean Clarke responded with 29 points and 5 rebounds and guard Luke Shelley (188-1991, college: KWC) scored 24 points and 6 assists. Camberwell's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Steelers moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Camberwell keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost.
