NBL One Round 15 (Regular Season): SW Metro P. defeat SC Phoenix

The round was exceptionally exciting as seven games ended with a tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Phoenix (8-4) in Cotton Tree on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by ninth ranked South West Metro Pirates (6-6) 102-78. SW Metro P. shot the lights out from three sinking 20 long-distance shots on high 51.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for Canadian-Serbian point guard Dragan Stajic (188-2000, college: Ottawa) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. Naturalized South Sudanese guard Junior Madut (195-1997, college: Hawaii) contributed with 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. Naturalized Maltese power forward Nelson Kahler (206-1994, college: CSU-Pueblo, agency: BIG) answered with 15 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for SC Phoenix. South West Metro Pirates have a solid series of four victories in a row. SW Metro P. moved-up to sixth place, which they share with SD Spartans. SC Phoenix at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. SW Metro P. is looking forward to face Cairns M. (#12) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. SC Phoenix will have a break next round.
Another exciting game for Forestville E. (15-2) which played in Gawler against C.District L. (14-3). First ranked Forestville E. saved the game by a tiny margin of three points 98-95. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It was a great evening for American forward Greg Mays (203-1993, college: Green Bay) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 7 rebounds. Alexander Starling helped adding 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was Efemena Abogidi with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds. Central District Lions' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Forestville E. have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 15-2 record. Eleventh-ranked Spectres (9-11) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Raiders (17-4) in East Burwood on Saturday. The visitors from Melbourne managed to secure only one-point victory 83-82. However their fans expected much easier game. It was an exceptional evening for Brody Nunn who led the winners and scored 20 points and 6 assists. BJ Mack came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for Nunawading S. in the defeat. Raiders have a solid series of three victories in a row. Knox R. maintains first place with 17-4 record. Loser Spectres keeps the eleventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with Waverley F. and Frankston B..
