Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The biggest surprise took place in Northbridge where host Redbacks (9-5) crushed league's leader Tigers (10-2) 84-62 on Saturday evening. Redbacks forced 20 Tigers turnovers. Power forward Isaac Gattorna-Hargrave (203-99) fired 25 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Belgian guard Marshall Nelson (188-94, college: WBU) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Thomas Gerovich (200-4) produced 10 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Redbacks maintains fourth place in League with 9-5 record. Tigers at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Perry Lakes H.. Tigers will play next round against Magic trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Redbacks will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Lightning in North Lake.
Top ranked Sturt Sabres (11-2) recorded its second loss in Greenacres. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked North Adelaide Rockets (7-6) 94-90. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Jack McVeigh (203-96, college: Nebraska) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Sunday Dech contributed with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Guard Sam Daly (193-95, college: Chaminade) answered with 26 points and 5 rebounds for Sturt Sabres. Sturt Sabres' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. North Adelaide Rockets moved-up to fourth place in League. Sturt Sabres at the other side still keep top position with two games lost. North Adelaide Rockets will play against West Adelaide Bearcats (#8) in Woodville in the next round. Sturt Sabres will play on the road against Woodville Warriors (#9) in Flinders Park and hope to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Hermit Park between Townsville Heat and Cairns Marlins. Fifth ranked Townsville Heat (6-3) got a very close home victory over 7th ranked Cairns Marlins (4-4). Townsville Heat managed to escape with a 3-point win 82-79 on Saturday evening. It was a great evening for Samson Froling who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 24 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. At the losing side Majok Deng responded with 27 points and 6 rebounds. Townsville Heat moved-up to third place in League. Loser Cairns Marlins dropped to the eleventh position with four games lost. Townsville Heat will meet at home Phoenix (#7) in the next round. Cairns Marlins will play against Phoenix (#7) and hope to secure a win.

Albury W.B. was beaten by Hobart C. on its own court 90-107. Knox R. lost to Ballarat M. in Wendouree 77-83. Bendigo B. managed to outperform Nunawading S. at home 78-69. Frankston B. rolled over Diamond V.E. on the opponent's court 111-86. Dandenong R. was defeated by NW Tasmania in a home game 71-77. Sandringham S. was beaten by Mt Gambier on the road 109-91. Frankston B. lost to Kilsyth C. on its own court 74-82. Hobart C. managed to outperform Knox R. in a road game 92-87. Melbourne T. recorded a loss to NW Tasmania at home 96-100. Mt Gambier defeated Geelong S. on the opponent's court 96-90. Nunawading S. was smashed by Hobart C. in a home game 74-96. Dandenong R. won against Eltham W. on the road 81-70. Kilsyth C. managed to outperform Ringwood H. on its own court 88-76. Perth R. managed to beat Joondalup W. in Northbridge 98-81. Eastern Suns was defeated by Warwick S. at home 81-90. Mandurah M. beat SW Slammers on the opponent's court 85-69. Willetton T. won against Rockingham F. in a home game 95-90. Lakeside L. outscored Goldfields G. on the road 85-64. Rockingham F. managed to beat Geraldton B. on its own court 91-73. Eastern Suns was crushed by Cockburn C. in Hamilton Hill 101-71. East Perth E. were smashed by Perry Lakes H. at home 53-112. Joondalup W. lost to Mandurah M. on the opponent's court 81-90. Perry Lakes H. outscored Geraldton B. in a home game 118-67.

Forestville E. - Woodville W. 93-59

There was no surprise in Goodwood where 7th ranked Woodville Warriors (5-8) were crushed by second ranked Forestville Eagles (9-4) 93-59 on Saturday. Forestville Eagles forced 21 Woodville Warriors turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Woodville Warriors' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Forestville Eagles made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for naturalized South Sudanese forward Malith Machar (198, college: Midland CC) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists. Michael Harris helped adding 14 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Five Forestville Eagles players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Joe Jackson (201, college: IU Southeast) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 6 blocks and guard Daniel McKee scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forestville Eagles maintains second place in League with 9-4 record having four points less than leader Perry Lakes H. Loser Woodville Warriors dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. Forestville Eagles will meet Central District Lions (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Woodville Warriors will play against the league's leader Sturt Sabres and hope to secure a win.

No shocking result in a game in Mt. Barker where sixth ranked Norwood Flames (6-6) defeated bottom-ranked Eastern Mavericks (0-13) 98-86 on Saturday. Norwood Flames dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Eastern Mavericks' 38. They outrebounded Eastern Mavericks 50-38 including 16 on the offensive glass. Norwood Flames looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American swingman CJ Turnage (201-95, college: SVSU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Daniel Webber (191-87) helped adding 14 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side American forward William Wise (206-92, college: Dominican, NY) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds and Owen Raneberg scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Five Norwood Flames and four Eastern Mavericks players scored in double figures. Norwood Flames maintains sixth place in League with 6-6 record. Loser Eastern Mavericks still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Norwood Flames will meet higher ranked South Adelaide Panthers (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Eastern Mavericks will play against Mount Gambier Pioneers (#4) in Mt Gambier and hope to get finally their first victory.
