Ironi Nahariya (Winner League) inked 29-year old New Zealander international guard Corey Webster (188-90kg-88, college: Lambuth). He played in the summer at Wellington Saints in New Zealand NBL league. In 19 games he was the best scorer with impressive 25.3ppg and recorded 4.3rpg, 5.3apg and 1.8spg (in top 4). Webster helped them to win the league title (twice) (also twice). A very good season in his career as he was awarded Australiabasket.com All-New Zealand NBL Domestic Player of the Year, Australiabasket.com All-New Zealand NBL Player of the Year and Guard of the Year. The last season he played at New Zealand Breakers (also in NBL) in where in 15 games he averaged 11.7ppg, 1.7rpg and 2.9apg. It was a very successful season in his career as he was awarded Australiabasket.com All-New Zealand NBL Domestic Player of the Year, Australiabasket.com All-New Zealand NBL Player of the Year and Guard of the Year.
Among other achievements Webster received Australiabasket.com All-Australian NBL Most Improved Player of the Year award in 2015.
He has been also a member of New Zealand international program for some years. Webster has regularly played for New Zealand senior team since 2008 and previously for U20 National Team back in 2006.
He also represented New Zealand at the FIBA Oceania Championships two years ago.
Webster has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to three different continents (Europe, Australia and of course North America). Webster has played previously professionally also in Greece (Koroivos) and Serbia (Mega Bemax).
He attended Lambuth University until 2008 and it will be his tenth season in pro basketball.
Webster's game is described as: A powerful combo guard, he can score and quarterback his team with the same effectiveness. Can be yet considered a rising star who works hard to come back at top level.

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of New Zealanders who are currently playing abroad. This week's number one is former international power forward Steven Adams (213-93). He could not help the Oklahoma City Thunder (42-27) in their last game. Despite Adams' very good performance the Oklahoma City Thunder (42-27) was edged 108-106 on the road by the Indiana Pacers.    [read more]
